Stolen Car Detected By License Plate Reader System In Northbrook | Northbrook, IL Patch

NORTHBROOK, IL — Another day, more arrests thanks to an automated license plate reader in Northbrook. Eric A. Osorio, 20, and Duran Scarbrough, 21, both of Chicago, face a myriad of charges in connection with an incident from earlier this week.

At around 5:53 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the area of Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road following an ALPR hit of a stolen vehicle. Police located the vehicle parked in front of a restaurant in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. The vehicle also had additional alerts notifying officers of an ongoing investigation involving the vehicle from an outside law enforcement agency, according to police.

Officers then checked the vehicle, which was unoccupied, and waited for Osorio and Scarbrough to exit the restaurant. Both men exited the restaurant and began walking toward the vehicle, when officers approached.

Osorio was found to be in possession of two handguns, one with an extended magazine, two car key fobs, and an illegal controlled substance. Scarbrough was found to be in possession of an illegal controlled substance, according to police.

Osorio is accused of two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Bond was set at $75,000 for Osorio. Scarbrough is accused of possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to a vehicle. He received an I-bond.
